Department of Political Science
The Department of Political Science was established in the year 1981 with UG General Course. However, it surged ahead from limitations to potentials and started offering UG honours course from 1988.It has three sanctioned post and two SACT posts presently satiating the required student teacher ratio. The curriculum is based on latest CBCS syllabus as designed by the affiliating university of SKBU. It covers different aspects of the discipline ranging from Traditional Political theories, governance and Politics, Comparative constitutions, Public Administration, Political Sociology to International Relations and newly added modules on Environment and Politics and Human Rights apart from Discipline specified electives which creates democratic awareness and Citizens rights. Set in rural backdrop the department thus tries to infuse strength, knowledge and address the gaps in achieving excellence at par with renowned universities. For this purpose, the department has a rich source of books, journals, dailies in the departmental library which is for the students as well as teachers to utilize. Keeping in mind the structure of the course and overall aim of the aforesaid discipline of Political Science the department endeavors to maximize their potentials through participation in co-curricular activities like sports, N.S.S, N.C.C . It has also gained several accolades in district level quiz, Mock Parliament, essay writing competition. The students are also being oriented towards creation of a research mind and mentored likewise. In the current mode of imparting education via online teaching the department have successfully conducted seminars both national and international, paper presentation seminars, and made a huge stock of E-Resources available to our students with the help of the Central Library. The department shall proudly continue to believe in its dual aim of achieving excellence as well empowerment.
