DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY MAHATMA GANDHI COLLEGE
History
Year of Establishment: I. Program Course-2010
II. HONOURS and CBCS-2018
History of the department: Mahatma Gandhi College was established on November, 1981. With Very few students’ strength and with a very little infrastructure our college was stared its journey. In 2005-2006 that our college got affiliation to start Science Department with subject Zoology, Botany and Chemistry as General Stream. It was quite unfortunate for us that we were unable to start science departments due to non availability of students. With the help of college administration, we were finally able to start the journey of Zoology Department taking Zoology as B.Sc. (Bio) three years General Degree Course from the session 2010-2011.
The Department of Zoology began its journey interesting Zoology as B.Sc. Honours with CBCS from 2018.
Zoology is very important subject to learn. Indeed Zoology is sometimes called the central science because it bridges other natural sciences like Bio-chemistry, Botany, Bio-technology, Bio-informatics, Bio-math, Bio-physics, and Bio-geography etc. Academically knowledge of Zoology helps us pursue higher study in important interdisciplinary areas like Bio-technology, Bio-medicine, Genetic Engineering, Bio-informatics, DNA Analysis Method and Finger Printing technique etc. which are very important part of current research. Apart from academics the job scope in industry is very of Zoology in daily life both from the academic point of view and job prospect in industrial areas. Our Department is very new. Infrastructures of the department are under progress. We believe that with the assistance of Governing body of college, Principal, the teaching and nonteaching staff of the college we will be able to enrich our department in order to fulfill our target.
